"The Devils have agreed to terms with goaltender Maxime Clermont on a three-year entry-level contract, general manager Lou Lamoriello confirmed today. (Some of you mentioned this earlier.)
Financial terms were not immediately available.
Clermont, who will turn 20 on Dec. 31, was the Devils' sixth-round pick, 174th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He is eligible to return to major junior with Gatineau of the QMJHL as an overage player or to play in the minor leagues in 2011-12.
"That is a possibility," Lamoriello said of Clermont playing in the minors in 2011-12. "No decision has been made."
With Martin Brodeur and Johan Hedberg, who are slated to play in New Jersey, and Keith Kinkaid and Jeff Frazee likely headed for Albany, the Devils have five goaltenders under contract with Clermont now in the fold. "
