Detroit Tigers starter Justin Verlander is an ace on the mound. Now, he'll get a shot to knock in an ace at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

An avid golfer, Verlander is among more than two dozen celebrities that have committed to the upcoming tournament, to be held Feb. 7-10 in Pebble Beach, Calif.

It'll be Verlander's first appearance in tournament, which teams celebrity amateurs with a PGA Tour professional. Verlander's partner has yet to be revealed.

Actors Bill Murray and Josh Duhamel, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly also have accepted invitations to participate.

San Francisco Giants starter Matt Cain is the only other baseball player currently in the field.

A tournament spokesperson sent Verlander a message Thursday on Twitter that read: "We are excited for you to join us for the 2013 tournament!"

Verlander replied, "Can't wait!"

The event will air on CBS.

Other celebrities who have committed include musicians Kenny G and Darius Rucker, and actors Ray Romano and Andy Garcia. View the entire list here.

Verlander, who is currently participating in individual workouts in Florida, is expected to return to Lakeland in time for the club's first full pitchers and catchers workout Feb. 12.
