A lot of ink has been devoted to Greg Monroe’s contract situation.

With the Oct. 31 deadline passing, Monroe will be a restricted free agent next off-season, so he is playing for his next contract.

Not as much has been written about Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva, but they will be unrestricted free agents as well.

Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks played coy when asked whether he talked to the players about focusing on the season and put money matters in the background.

“Who’s on a contract year?” he asked.

When his question was answered, he said: “See, I don’t even know. I’m just worried about getting the best out of them. Whether they’re on a contract year or four or five years, I don’t know. I just try and get the best out of them the best I can. I don’t focus in on that. I’m quite sure they do, but I don’t focus on that.”

Has he seen it be a distraction on his previous teams? “It’s always a topic of conversation from someone, but I don’t know if it’s necessarily by the player himself.”
