"Suggestions that Jeff Fisher's departure would translate to Vince Young's remaining with the Titans were officially — and quickly — dispelled Friday.
It had been easy to assume otherwise, given what was portrayed as a lengthy coach versus quarterback battle that Fisher finally appeared to win earlier this month.
Yet with Fisher's departure now official, Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt said he plans to stick with the previously announced intention regarding Young: trade him or cut him.
It was a clear indication that the third overall pick of the 2006 draft had alienated others in the franchise beyond the former head coach.
"I think our Vince Young decision is the same," Reinfeldt said. "We're going to go in a different direction, and at some point we'll either try to trade or release Vince."
The Titans can't cut Young until Feb. 7, but there's no guarantee they would snip the cord right away."
