"Derek Jeter has 10 fingers but he got hit on the same one two days in a row and it could end up costing him a game or two.

The Yankees shortstop got hit by a pitch from Orioles starter Jake Arrieta in the third inning of Sunday's 4-2 win at the Stadium and spent a couple minutes shaking it off. Jeter got hit on the middle finger of his right hand, the same finger that got jammed fielding a ground ball in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.

He remained in the game but came out for a pinch-hitter in the fourth.

"I was having trouble gripping - so in effect throwing and swinging," Jeter said. "That's a problem when you try to play baseball."

Jeter usually tries to play through pain, but he fessed up to Joe Girardi that there was a problem."
