A large crowd that included representatives from all 32 teams gathered for Fresno State’s pro day Thursday. No NFL head coaches were present, but each team had at least two or three reps, including the Vikings, who sent offensive coordinator Norv Turner and general manager Rick Spielman.

The star of the show was undoubtedly quarterback Derek Carr, who more than likely played himself into the lower end of the first round. Carr (6-2 1/8, 215 pounds) did an exceptional job, showing off a very, very strong arm in a 72-pass workout. His incomplete passes were mostly on long throws where he aired the ball out, but he put on a show as far as being accurate and showed he’s a strong-armed quarterback. He really helped himself out in the draft.
