" Former Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme signed on with Cleveland on Saturday, but that doesn't mean the player he's unseating is headed to the Panthers.
Despite reports listing Carolina as a potential destination for Browns' quarterback Brady Quinn, a league source told the Observer Saturday night that the Panthers had not shown interest in trying to acquire the former Notre Dame star.
Cleveland is expected to try to trade Quinn now that Delhomme has agreed to a two-year deal to compete with Seneca Wallace, who was obtained in a trade last week with Seattle.
Quinn has connections to the Panthers. Carolina quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer coached him during his rookie season and Panthers coach John Fox is close friends with Quinn's former college coach, Charlie Weis.
The Panthers' lack of expressed interest in Quinn probably means they're either planning to pick a quarterback in next month's draft or that there's at least one veteran they prefer more to back up and/or compete with Moore."
