"With injuries eating away at the Mets' roster seemingly by the minute, Terry Collins couldn't help but feel a little nervous Monday night, even as the winning run came across to give his team a 9-8 triumph over the Padres. That was because David Wright crashed into plate umpire Marty Foster as he scored to win the game.
"God, I hope so," Collins said when asked if Wright was OK after both that collision and a diving catch in foul territory to end the top of the ninth. "Please don't do that to me. We just won the game. God, you're giving me a heart attack."
Wright said he was fine. His main concern, in fact, was the health of Foster."
