Free agent David Murphy is a free agent no longer. His two-year, $12 million deal with the Indians is official.

Murphy and the Indians came to terms last week, but the 32-year-old outfielder still had to pass a physical. The physical is done and the left-handed hitting Murphy is expected to be the Indians primary right fielder, platooning with Ryan Raburn/Drew Stubbs.

The two-year deal includes a club option for a third year.

Last season was Murphy’s worst in his career. He hit .220 (96-for-436) with 26 doubles, 13 homers and 45 RBI for Texas.

In parts of eight big leagues seasons, Murphy is a .275 career hitter with 86 homers and 364 RBI. Against right-handers, he is a career .280 (571-for-2042) hitter with 79 homers, 293 RBI and a .816 OPS.

Murphy began his career in Boston, but spent the last 6 1/2 season with the Rangers.
