"The Warriors will be without power forward David Lee a second consecutive game because of a lacerated left elbow.
The team said Lee flew back to the Bay Area for surgery Friday night. Dr. Frank Chen was to clean out the infected area of the elbow. Lee is out for tonight's game at Milwaukee and, according to multiple team sources, is projected to miss two weeks. The Warriors have not officially announced a timetable for his return.
Lee missed three games total the previous three seasons while with the New York Knicks. If Lee misses a full two weeks, he'd be out a total of eight games.
He suffered a laceration Wednesday night when his elbow collided with the front teeth of the Knicks' Wilson Chandler in the third quarter. One of Chandler's front teeth shattered. Chandler told the New York Times that he spit a fragment onto the court and swallowed another. A fragment also was found in Lee's elbow when the bandage was removed after the game.
The gash was so deep that Lee said bone was visible, and blood seeped through three layers of tape.
Lee said he was in excruciating pain Thursday morning and checked into the emergency room of Rush Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He was given liquids intravenously, Vicodin for the pain and antibiotics to prevent infection."
