Oakland Athletics rookie Bruce Maxwell became the first Major League player to take a knee in protest during the national anthem on Saturday.

If someone on the Los Angeles Dodgers follows in Maxwell's footsteps, Dave Roberts won't readily offer his support.

Roberts said Sunday he'd take issue with a player not standing for the anthem, citing his father's service as a Marine.

"Personally, yeah, I'd have a problem because my father served this country for 30 years and I understand -- I can appreciate any player's individual, however they act, and that's personal," Roberts said.
