Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that one name making the rounds in some league circles as the “most likely” candidate for the Giants’ GM vacancy is former Panthers GM Dave Gettleman.

Before taking over the Panthers GM position, Gettleman spent more than a decade with the Giants, so there is a history between the two parties. Florio points out that hiring Gettleman would mesh with the “insular nature” of the Giants organization and give them a GM that they’re familiar with, as opposed to hiring an external candidate.

According to Florio, some believe former Giants GM Ernie Accorsi will essentially be making this hire for New York and they could actually hire Gettleman right now because he’s currently without a team.
