Our pal Jordan Raanan is reporting that the Eagles are expected to pursue free agent safety Dashon Goldson when the negotiating period begins tonight and free agency begins in full on Tuesday.

Goldson, 28, has made 2 straight Pro Bowls and was named an All Pro for the first time last season. Known as one of the more physical safeties in the league, Goldson has also excelled against the pass these past couple seasons collecting 9 INTs and 20 passes defensed.

He would undoubtedly be an immediate upgrade to a core of Eagles safeties that have struggled since Brian Dawkins left after the 2008 season.

That said, there are concerns with Goldson. For one, he's really only blossomed these past 2 seasons, both of which he was playing in the final year of his deal. He will also turn 29 soon after the start of the 2013 season.
