One of the NHL's most prolific shot-blockers was injured Sunday during a scary looking sequence.
Lightning defenseman Dan Girardi left during the second period of Tampa Bay's game against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday after taking a slap shot off the stick Martin Frk to the side of the head.
With the Red Wings on the power play, Detroit worked the puck into the circle and onto the stick of Frk. As the Red Wings forward wound up for a one-timer, Girardi went down to a knee to block the shot, taking it off the side of his head. Detroit forward Dylan Larkin immediately waved to the benches for help.
