Dalton finds place in sun

"For those looking to see Andy Dalton in tonight's Pro Bowl, you will have to wait until the second half. The Bengals rookie quarterback will go in during the third quarter and then play some of the fourth.

It is the first time in five years that a Bengals QB has played in the game. In the 2007 contest, Carson Palmer was named the MVP after leading the game-winning drive in the AFC's 31-28 win.

In the game, Palmer was 8 of 17 for 190 yards and two touchdowns, including a 42-yard TD to Chad Ochocinco. While Palmer and Ochocinco have taken center stage in past Pro Bowls, it is now Dalton and A.J. Green's time as they become the first rookie quarterback-receiver duo from the same team to take part in a Pro Bowl.

"It has been a lot of fun so far," said Dalton by phone about his time in Hawaii on Friday, right after the AFC had concluded practices. "It has been good to be in the meetings with Ben (Roethlisberger) and Philip (Rivers) but there hasn't been a lot of talk about football."

Of the all-star games in professional sports, the Pro Bowl is more of a reward for a job well done and a vacation. Offense is always at the forefront and things really don't get competitive until the fourth quarter. Not even Bill Belichick could get upset last year when the AFC fell behind 42-0. The NFC eventually won 55-41."
