"Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn, the team's scoring leader with 42 points, underwent an appendectomy on Sunday afternoon, the Stars reported on their website. Benn will be out approximately 10 days to two weeks. He was resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery.

Benn, 22, was selected to play in the NHL All-Star Game for the first time, which will be in Ottawa on Jan. 29. His participation in All-Star Weekend appears doubtful, though a final determination has not been made."
