"Samuel Dalembert's put-back overtime dunk Thursday propelled the Rockets to a 90-88 victory, but it also sent him to the training room and possibly a night on the inactive list.
After being instrumental in the Rockets' five-game winning streak and climb to 8-7, Dalembert sat out Friday's practice with a sprained left ankle that will make his status for Saturday's contest with the Spurs a game-time decision.
Dalembert, 30, turned the ankle on his dunk with 11 seconds left in overtime. Dalembert said Thursday he believed he would be able to play without missing a game, and Rockets coach Kevin McHale on Friday was not willing to concede he'd be without his center just when he was on a roll, bringing the Rockets with him.
"I don't know if Sammy is going to miss a game," McHale said. "If he does, it definitely hurts us."
Dalembert, 6-11, averaged 15.2 points on 64.2 percent shooting and 12.8 rebounds during the Rockets' winning streak. Opposing teams have made just 42.5 percent of their shots in that stretch, averaging 93.6 points."
