Cutler may have found his man in Williams

"Bears quarterback Jay Cutler discreetly lobbied for wide receiver help after arriving in a trade, and two years and one week of training camp later, he might have what he has been hoping for.

Cutler practiced with Roy Williams for the first time Thursday night at Olivet Nazarene University as free agents were not permitted to take the field with their new teams until the new collective bargaining agreement was ratified.

The Bears wasted no time working in Williams with the first-team offense, and Cutler's sixth pass in 7-on-7 drills went to him. With Williams having worked in Mike Martz's system before, the former Lions first-round draft pick could be at full speed in a few weeks.

"He is going to be dynamic for us," Cutler said. "He is very steady, very consistent in his routes. You know where he's going to be. He knows the offense. I am excited."

Williams' night ended early when his right calf tightened near the end of practice, but the 29-year-old laughed it off afterward."
