"Cubs general manager Jim Hendry called Braves general manager Frank Wren Saturday to apologize to Chipper Jones and the Braves for the actions of pitcher Carlos Zambrano on Friday night.
It was a gesture Jones appreciated but said the issue was "over with."
"It was a class move," Jones said. "I appreciate it. There's no hard feelings. Carlos has a tendency to run a little hot and you can tell that he was frustrated. I sort of had an inkling that it was coming."
Zambrano was ejected for throwing at Jones after buzzing two pitches inside in the fifth inning, after he'd given up five home runs, incuding a three-run homer to Jones in a 10-4 loss.
The ejection is now the least of Zambrano's concerns, after he packed up his locker Friday night and reportedly told some teammates he was retiring. The Cubs placed Zambrano on the 30-day disqualified list without pay Saturday."
