Chicago Cubs reliever Carlos Marmol walked off the mound beating his chest after the eighth inning of Monday's 5-1 win over Atlanta, reacting like he'd struck out the side in Game 7 of the World Series.

In truth, Marmol nearly imploded again with back-to-back walks to start the inning, completely ignoring Michael Bourn on a steal of third and adding to his own problem with a wild pitch on the steal attempt that sent the tying run to second.

But Marmol got out of the inning with a couple of strikeouts, and after the Cincinnati meltdown that led to Marmol being sent to "closer timeout" by yet another manager, it serves as some sort of progress.
