"The Cubs are close to finalizing a deal that would send outfielder Kosuke Fukudome to the Cleveland Indians for two prospects, according to a major-league source.

The Cubs would pick up a portion of the estimated $4 million remaining this season on Fukudome's contract, said the source, adding that the deal could be completed Thursday.
