Nelson Cruz returned to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, but remained out of the starting lineup. Cruz continued to recover from a fever that was bad enough the Rangers sent him home on Tuesday afternoon, and manager Ron Washington wanted to give him another day off.

Cruz was available to pinch-hit, but felt sore after taking early batting practice. He didn't sleep well on Tuesday, waking up at 2 a.m. with the fever.

"I feel normal right now," Cruz said. "I went to the cages and felt a little sore, but I feel I could play."
