"Craig Leipold is a nervous jumping jack at most Wild games, he says.
In exhibition games, not so much.
Leipold invited a dozen members of the Twin Cities media to join him in the owner's suite for the preseason game against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night at the Xcel Energy Center, a rare experience for the working stiffs who are usually up near the rafters in the press box.
Why?
"We are all one," Leipold said grandly before the game.
Two things became evident: The food is better in the suites than in the press box, and Leipold hates it when a Minnesota player ices the puck.
He doesn't much care for the on-ice fist fights, either.
"I don't want anybody to get hurt," he explained.
Ever the gracious host, Leipold offered food and drink to all his guests and made the rounds, doing interviews and talking hockey. "
