"Niners wide receiver Michael Crabtree and safety Dashon Goldson took a positive step in their attempts to play against the visiting Cowboys on Sunday as they had a more active role in Thursday's practice.

A day after serving as onlookers during the portion of practice open to the media, Williams and Goldson took part in position drills. They were officially listed as "limited" on the injury report for the second straight day.

Crabtree, whose twice-broken left foot became so painful during the season opener against Seattle that he feared he might have re-broken it, ran several slant routes at nearly full speed. But he only watched when receivers ran an out route that would have required him to plant on his left foot."
