Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed defenseman Chris Summers to a two-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers totaled 2-1-3 and 15 penalty minutes (PIM) in 18 games with the Coyotes this season. He also registered 2-7-9 and 47 PIM in 48 games with Portland (AHL). The 26-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Mich., has posted 2-4-6 and 39 PIM in 47 career NHL games.
Summers was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
