Coyotes sign free agents Torres, Smith and Gordon to two-year deals

"Raffi Torres is heading to Phoenix.

The free agent forward signed a two-year, contract worth $1.75 million per season with the Coyotes on Friday.

The 29-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Canucks last offseason, one of Mike Gillis' pieces to revamp what had been an ineffective third line for Vancouver the previous year.

A first round pick in 2000, Torres tallied 14 goals and 15 assists in 80 games with Vancouver last season.

He had three goals and four assists for the Canucks in their Stanley Cup Final run. Torres missed the first two games of the playoffs due to a suspension late in the regular season for a hit to the head of Oilers forward Jordan Eberle.

He has 112 goals and 99 assists in 512 career games.

The Coyotes also signed forward Boyd Gordon to a two-year deal worth $1.3 million next season and $1.35 million 2012-13."
