"Dallas Cowboys starting running back Marion Barber returned to practice Wednesday after missing two weeks with a calf injury, and the club made several moves at receiver, including one involving former UTSA sprinter Teddy Williams.
Interim coach Jason Garrett was noncommittal about Barber's status for Sunday's game against Washington after Barber had limited participation.
"It was good to see him out there," Garrett said. "He's been working hard in his rehab, both in the training room and the weight room and with our rehab guys. He's been making some progress."
Felix Jones started both games Barber missed. Barber's absence also meant an expanded role for third-stringer Tashard Choice, who rushed for 100 yards two weeks ago against Indianapolis.
When Barber injured his calf on Thanksgiving Day against New Orleans, some observers speculated that Jones and Choice would get most, if not all, of the carries the rest of the season. But Garrett indicated a three-back rotation would be in place when Barber returns.
"One of the positive things for those guys is they have been in tandem backfields really throughout their whole careers — in college and certainly here in the NFL," Garrett said. "It's something they are comfortable with, and we will continue to do as we've done in the past.""
