Dan Bailey made a 35-yard field goal on the final play of the game to give the Dallas Cowboys a 24-21 win over the New York Giants on Sunday at a cold MetLife Stadium.
The Cowboys drove 64 yards in 14 plays, converting three third downs, to set up the game-winning kick. Dez Bryant caught two third-down passes and Cole Beasley had the other.
Romo passed for 250 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. On the game-winning drive, Romo completed six of nine, including the critical third-down plays. Bryant finished the game with nine catches for 102 yards.
The defense had two red zone stops and rookie safety Jeff Heath returned a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown to help the Cowboys build a 14-6 halftime lead.
The Cowboys move to 6-5 and are tied with Philadelphia atop the NFC East. The Giants, who came in with a four-game winning streak, fall to 4-7.
The windy, sub-freezing conditions made the opening quarter a battle of field position, spotlighting the punters on the first four possessions of the game.
Dallas took the opening kickoff and reached midfield, but ended up punting. Chris Jones’ 42-yard punt landed at the 10.
Dallas couldn’t benefited from the field position after the Giants’ Steve Weatherford sailed his punt 68 yards to the Cowboys 10.
Jones’ 51-yard punt pushed the Giants back to their 12 and, with a Jason Hatcher third-down sack, forced a 47-yard punt from the 3.
