"Under usual circumstances, I would refrain from citing a month-old report, but considering the author and the subject, it seemed newsworthy.
Kevin Acee, the well-respected San Diego Chargers beat writer for the San Diego Union-Tribune, wrote on May 6 that the Chargers have been monitoring the relationship between wide receiver Steve Smith and the Carolina Panthers.
What does this have to do with the Ravens? According to Acee, Smith has expressed a desire to land with either the Chargers, the Oakland Raiders or the Ravens.
Although he is owed almost $15 million over the final two years of his contract, Smith's relationship with the Panthers can be described as frosty. He reportedly cleaned out his locker after the end of the 2010 season and has placed his home in North Carolina on the market – although he has said that he is selling his house because it is too small for his family."
