"Tests taken Sunday confirmed the neck injury suffered by starting quarterback Jason Campbell isn't as serious as it first appeared, Raiders coach Tom Cable said.
Now, for the bad news: Campbell suffered an injury to his right (throwing) wrist earlier in the game against the 49ers, and his status is uncertain. Cable said Campbell's progress will be monitored in the coming days.
"Right now, I guess it's the wrist," Cable said, when asked if the neck or wrist is the more pressing issue.
It's understandable why Cable is so concerned about Campbell's wrist. Backup quarterback Charlie Frye underwent season-ending surgery less than two weeks ago to repair the damage he suffered in his right (throwing) wrist when he braced himself as he hit the ground in practice.
Campbell said he is a fast healer and not prone to missing much practice or many games."
