"Jason Taylor could have gone back to the New York Jets. He could have returned to the bright lights and good friends and the coach he likes. He could have gone to what looks like a better team and chased what seems like a better chance at winning a Super Bowl.
The Jets certainly seem to have done their part in trying to lure Taylor back because, to hear him tell it, they called only a few minutes after free agency began and extended to him the opportunity to return. The Dolphins didn't call for several hours later.
So why is Jason Taylor back with the Dolphins?
Why did the man with actor looks flee Broadway, disappoint new friends in New York's locker room, and seemingly give up perhaps his final reach at a championship ring?
"There are no guarantees with any of that in the NFL," Taylor says while leaning against a wall of the familiar Dolphins facility he's called home for 12 of his 14 seasons.
"My wife and I talked about this. New York has a really good football team. I play for the Dolphins, and I'll say the Jets have a very good football team. The Patriots have a very good football team. The Dolphins, for all the things they went through last year while winning seven games, if we take some of the blind hate out of it, they could have had a 10-win season."
