"The Indianapolis Colts are awaiting word on the severity of a knee injury to tight end Dallas Clark, and intent on improving upon their subpar effort in Sunday's season-opening loss to the Chicago Bears.
Coach Tony Dungy said Clark was scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging test on his right knee earlier today. The coach had not seen the results when he met with the media at 12:30 p.m.
Clark injured his right knee in the second quarter of the 29-13 loss. He returned to the game briefly but did not play in the second half.
"I'm hoping he'll be OK,'' Dungy said. "He was running, trying to get himself back in the game last night.
"But if it is going to be a couple of weeks, we'll adjust.''
The offense likely will be without starting center Jeff Saturday for a second straight game when the Colts meet the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday, although Dungy said the three-time Pro Bowl selection might practice this week. Saturday tore the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during the preseason.
As for the opening loss, Dungy said a review of the game was just as disappointing as the original.
"Usually on Monday you come in and say, 'Well, it wasn't as bad after we looked at the tape, it wasn't as bad as we thought,''' he said. "But it was.
"It's a game you can't get back. We have to move forward at this point and get ready for Minnesota.''"
