Terry Collins is headed back to the All-Star Game.

The Mets manager, along with Nationals manager Davey Johnson, was named yesterday to NL manager Bruce Bochy’s staff for the Midsummer Classic on July 16 at Citi Field.

It will be Collins’ second straight All-Star coaching appearance; he was selected last year by NL manager Tony La Russa.

“My whole life has been this game and to be asked to do something like that, and I realize it’s in New York and that’s probably why they asked me to do it, it’s an honor, it’s a blast,” Collins said before the Mets’ 2-1 loss to the Cardinals.

“To get in there during batting practice and mingle with the greatest of the greats, how can you not like that?”

* Scott Atchison may rejoin the Mets this weekend. The veteran reliever, who last month was placed on the disabled list with numbness in his fingers stemming from bone chips in his right elbow, made a rehab appearance at Double-A Binghamton on Wednesday and pitched a perfect inning.

* The Mets used the same 1-8 lineup — Jordany Valdespin, Omar Quintanilla, David Wright, Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda, Marlon Byrd, John Buck and Kirk Nieuwenhuis — for the third straight game. It marked the first time since April 23-26, 2011, the Mets had the same 1-8 lineup for three straight games.
