The Mavericks were facing one of the most athletic teams in the NBA on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Clippers have big men who are leapers and their guards, for the most part, are speedy.

Even without Chauncey Billups, who was out against the Mavericks, the Clippers have an array of talent that most teams in the NBA envy.

Asked how the Mavericks prepped for the Clippers, coach Rick Carlisle said: "I don't even know if you can simulate that with a computer-generated thing.

"These guys are as dynamic and athletic as they come. They got multiple all-stars on that team, and they have a winning air about them. It started when Chris Paul showed up."

And yet, it's like everybody doubts the Clippers. Take it from somebody who knows the karma of that team very well.

Chris Kaman was on the Clippers' team that took Phoenix to seven games in the second round of the playoffs in 2006. The Mavericks eventually beat the Suns to go to the NBA Finals.

"We had some good years, but we always had an injury," Kaman said. "Elton [Brand] was out that whole year with an Achilles, then Blake Griffin was out a whole season. It was hard.
