Sunday's game between the Indians and Twins took 3 hours and 26 minutes. The last five pitches took a heartbeat, maybe three.
Vinnie Pestano threw the five pitches with the score tied 7-7 in the ninth inning. The first four produced two fast outs. Justin Morneau sent the fifth one curving around the foul pole in right field to give the Twins a 8-7 victory at Target Field.
The season ended long ago for these two teams. They are just trying to get through September without further embarrassment. If they could do so while not finishing last in the AL Central, so much the better.
