"From a fantasy perspective, this is obviously a huge blow to Johnson's value because he likely will not be a starter for any team in the near future. Owners who have already drafted Johnson should wait to see where he goes before deciding on what to do with him. There is a chance he could sign with a team and begin to share carries at some point this season.
The transaction certainly increases the value of Perry and fellow running back Kenny Watson. Perry likely will now become the team's starter, but he too has a history of injuries in the NFL. He spent the entire 2007 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list because of ankle and foot injuries. He also had knee and ankle injuries in 2005 and 2006 while also suffering from a sports hernia late in 2004. He has only rushed for 337 yards in his career but does have 63 receptions for 403 yards and two touchdowns in his three years. Perry is considered a low-end fantasy No. 2 running back for remaining fantasy football drafts. If he went undrafted in your league, pick him up immediately.
Watson benefited from Johnson's injuries last season and would be the first one called upon if Perry suffers an injury. In 16 games last season, he rushed for 763 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught 52 passes for 374 yards. Perry owners should be looking to pick up Watson as a handcuff since Watson has proven he can play when called upon, but he should only be looked in the late rounds of any draft."
