Chung, McCourty, Ochocinco out against Eagles

"Chad Ochocinco's trying 2011 season hit another roadblock.

The Patriots mercurial wide receiver, who suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the week, was officially ruled out yesterday for today's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Cincinnati Bengals star has been a disappointment after a high-profile free agent signing, and this was another frustrating situation in a frustrating season.

In addition, the team will be without three other starters — cornerback Devin McCourty (shoulder), safety Patrick Chung (foot), and center Dan Connolly (groin).

McCourty will likely be replaced by Antwaun Molden, Sterling Moore will once again fill in for Chung and Ryan Wendell will step in for Connolly.

"At center you handle the ball every play, you hold the team's fortunes in your hands," Wendell said. "After that, it's just doing your job."

As for Ochocinco's absence, look for plenty of Taylor Price at receiver.

Ochocinco has just 11 catches for 201 yards. In his absence, the door of opportunity swings open for Price, though the second-year player has had his own hamstring issue. Perhaps this is the week Price finally makes an impact. If not, the offense may turn to Julian Edelman or Matthew Slater for help on the outside.

Earlier in the week, quarterback Tom Brady stressed a need for more contributions from the outside receivers. The coaches stressed better offense all around.

"We can definitely do a better job of taking advantage of our opportunities all the way across the board," offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien said. "I think we left some yards on the field (in Monday night's win against the Kansas City Chiefs).""
