Chris Kluwe’s lawyer held settlement talks Wednesday with the Vikings for the first time since it was announced two weeks ago that the former Minnesota punter was holding off on possibly suing the team.

Clayton Halunen, who represents Kluwe, confirmed the meeting was held. Halunen said the sides will talk again Aug. 14, but that he can’t say anything else.

Kluwe accused the Vikings in a first-person article written last January for he was released in May 2013 due to his outspoken views on same-sex marriage and that special-teams coordinator Mike Priefer made homophobic remarks during the 2012 season.
