"Getting Chris Johnson to come to Nashville was tough. Convincing him to stay could be even tougher.
The holdout running back and his agent arrived Tuesday night for a meeting with Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt on Wednesday. Indications are the two sides remain far apart about the parameters of a new contract for the three-time Pro Bowler, however.
The meeting could close the gap or it could create even more separation. Johnson is seeking a deal that would rank with the NFL's elite playmakers, while the Titans have offered to make him the highest-paid running back.
Flanked by media, Johnson had little to say as he arrived at Nashville International Airport.
Asked if he thought a deal could be worked out soon, he said, "I don't know. ... I want to be here. We'll see."
Asked what would happen if the Titans don't meet his salary demands, Johnson said, "I have no answers today. I'll answer that tomorrow.""
