Chris Cooley expects Redskins to acquire a quarterback

"Tight end Chris Cooley would not be surprised to see the Washington Redskins pursue another quarterback via free agency or trade. With Donovan McNabb likely out of the picture, John Beck is basically the starter by default, although free agent Rex Grossman hopes to re-sign and compete for the starting job.

Appearing on NFL Network Wednesday, Cooley complemented both Beck and Grossman but said the Redskins' quarterback picture remains undecided. With veteran quarterbacks like Matt Hasselbeck and Vince Young available, Cooley expects the Redskins to explore other possibilities.

"In my opinion, we'll move forward into whatever training camp we have and they'll be a competition between Rex Grossman and John Beck," Cooley said. "Obviously we're going to have to bring someone else in. Do you bring in a bigger name? No one knows. Obviously, they passed on a lot of guys they had a chance to draft. So either they really like John Beck and Rex Grossman, or they have someone else in mind.''"
