Chorney back with Oilers

"One has to excuse Taylor Chorney for needing to double-check his jersey.

The Edmonton Oilers defenceman has played for three different teams in the last month and-a-half.

On Saturday, Chorney was back in the Oilers lineup, having been recalled by the club from the American Hockey League affiliate in Oklahoma City.

"It's been a crazy last six weeks just travelling around," Chorney said. "I went to St. Louis for a bit, got a couple of games there, went to Ok City and now I'm back here. I'm definitely happy to be here, this is where I want to be, this is the team I want to make it with, so I'm very excited to be back."

The Oilers had lost Chorney for a while after he was claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Blues.

At the time, the Blues had suffered a number of injuries to their defensive corps and figured Chorney could help them fill the void.

The Oilers did not expect to lose their depth defenceman when they first sent him down to Oklahoma City, which required him clearing waivers.

"I hurt my knee in the preseason and I was idle for a bit and it was just a matter of them wanting to get me going and playing a lot of minutes down there and get me back on track," Chorney said. "It was weird, it was a new experience for me, I'd never been through that before.

"At the time, I was excited to get picked by St. Louis to be able to stay in the NHL. I went there it was kind of a weird situation, the coach was kind of on the hot seat a little bit and I got caught in the whole mix there. I didn't get to play a ton, although I got in a couple of games.""
