Chipper returns to lineup despite knee pain

"Chipper Jones returned to the lineup Friday night against Baltimore after giving his ailing right knee two days to rest. He said his knee is "still barking" but he's going to continue to try to play through it for now.

"I'm going to give it a couple more days, see if the treatment helps, and make a decision after that," Jones said.

He has played the last six weeks with a small meniscus tear and was able to avoid surgery with help from two cortisone shots. But the effect of those shots has worn off and he can't get another until some time in August.

Jones is trying to avoid surgery, which would cost him 2-3 weeks, especially at a time when the Braves are trying to get their lineup back together. Martin Prado is approaching his return from staph infection surgery.

Jones said at this point he's not thinking of using four off days over the All-Star break for surgery or recovery time."
