Chipper Jones considering skipping All-Star game to address right knee

"Chipper Jones acknowledged after Friday night's game against the Phillies that his right knee is not improving and he's considering missing the All-Star break because of it, possibly to undergo arthroscopic surgery.

"I'm doing what I can," said Jones, who hasn't felt any improvement after receiving a cortisone shot in his knee on Sunday. "It's not getting any better. It's gradually getting worse. I'm going to have to address it some time."

When asked if that time was over the All-Star break, Jones said: "It's possible."

Jones was selected by the players to compete in his seventh career All-Star game Tuesday in Phoenix. But to have a four-day break to address the torn meniscus in his right knee might be hard to pass up for the 39-year-old. The surgery is expected to require two to three weeks recovery time."
