"Quarterback Kyle Orton made a brief appearance in the Chiefs' locker room during the period when it's open to the news media. The index finger of his passing hand, injured in Sunday's win over Chicago, was bandaged, but there was no cast.
Coach Todd Haley declined to provide an update on Orton's status, but it's probably premature to say he's out for Sunday's game against the Jets in New York. Orton suffered a similar injury two years ago in the preseason while he played for the Broncos. Orton missed the subsequent preseason game but returned to play the next week in the regular-season opener. He wore a glove on his passing hand in that game.
The Chiefs tipped their hand with regard to how they might have used Orton in his one play against the Bears. It was a flea-flicker, a play where the Chiefs intended to heave the ball downfield and thought they needed an arm stronger than that of Tyler Palko to do it."
