Fernando Torres has celebrated his 30th birthday by admitting he does not know if he will be sold this summer.

The Chelsea striker signed from Liverpool for £50million three years ago has only scored four Premier League goals under Jose Mourinho this season.

And with the Blues interested in Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, Torres refused to rule out a swap deal returning him to his first pro club.

“In football, you never know,” he said. “You don’t know where you’re going to be tomorrow, in a week’s time or in 10 years’ time. How can I answer that question?

“You never know where life is going to take you. There’s nothing to say I’d end up with Diego Simeone here (at Chelsea) or at Atleti. Who could have told me that I was going to coincide with Rafa Benitez at two different English clubs?”
