Lallana has been a driving force behind Southampton's excellent season, catching the eye with a number of outstanding performances.

The Saints midfielder's form has not gone unnoticed and, as Starsport revealed in December, is interesting United manager David Moyes, who is keen to overhaul his failing squad in the summer.

However according to reports, the Red Devils will face competition from Chelsea with Jose Mourinho plotting a move to bring Lallana to Stamford Bridge.

Lallana, 25, is rated at £20m-plus by the Saints, but convincing the south-coast club to part with their star asset will still be a difficult task for United and Chelsea.

Having only penned a new five-year deal last April, Lallana is tied down at St Marys' until 2018.

It may not be the only time Chelsea and United go head-to-head in the summer with both clubs interested in the Saints' £20m-rated left-back Luke Shaw.
