Chargers President Spanos explains reasons for keeping Turner, Smith

"Norv Turner and A.J. Smith were pardoned.

The Chargers head coach and general manager got "time on" for what club President Dean Spanos deemed good enough behavior.

Citing "stability" and his belief that Turner and Smith give the Chargers "the best chance to get back to the playoffs," Spanos on Tuesday announced his decision that both men will return in 2012."
