Chargers happy to play later

"Not too many visiting teams win in New England, where the Patriots are 67-14 since the opening of Gillette Stadium at the start of the 2002 season.

And not too many teams from the West win in the Central or Eastern time zones.

But the Chargers get some help this weekend from the schedule maker and actually have about as advantageous a road schedule as they could hope for.

The Chargers have just one game this season that is scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. PDT, just the second time they've had that few since at least the past 15 seasons.

Sunday against the Patriots, kickoff is 1:15 p.m. PDT.

That means no 4 a.m. PDT wakeup calls, no breakfasts an hour later, no arriving at the stadium at a time usually reserved for the snooze alarm.

"Good, that's how it should be," safety Eric Weddle said. "(Games at) 10 a.m. are the worst. I don't care what anyone says. Just your body, mentality, physically, you're just not up. It takes you a quarter, and that's a huge advantage whether you can get down or if you can maintain just staying even with team. You know the records … not just us. Everyone.""
