"The Bills plan to adjust a few of their offensive play calls against Jacksonville this week with Trent Edwards in mind.
Edwards, cut by the Bills two weeks ago, is the backup quarterback for the Jaguars. Overall, the Bills were downplaying the impact Edwards' knowledge of Buffalo might have on the game.
Said Bills coach Chan Gailey: "He can give them a few of our calls and he can give them a few of our signals, probably. We have to change a few things going into this ballgame. He can tell them a little bit of the protection situations that we've got and what some issues might be with that. Most people that leave teams and go to other teams can tell a few things so you have to change a few things."
Can Edwards tip them off on your team's defensive signals? "Probably not, probably not," Gailey said. "I think it's more offense."
Said Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick: "We'll see what Trent gives them. It's one of those things Trent knew the offense in and out. He's going to tell them that we like to run zone runs or power runs. They can see all that on film. It's not like he's gonna give away much. I think in terms of some of our other stuff, he can probably help them out a little bit. Cadence or whatever. But we're not worried about it too much because we still have to go out there and play."
Edwards said his new teammates have been quizzing him on the Bills this week.
"Yeah, both offensively and defensively, wanting to know a lot of their schemes and everything," he told reporters in Jacksonville. "My philosophy is we need to win this football game and I need to do whatever it takes to help us win here. It's definitely going to be a weird feeling going back. I knew when I was released and got picked up here that we played up in Buffalo in two weeks, so I told all of those guys I'll be back in two weeks. It will be a weird situation to go back there.""
