"This is a different camp for Cory Emmerton.
Emmerton either will stay on the Red Wings roster or be exposed to waivers and likely be lost to another team.
That, however, only can happen ifthe Red Wings send Emmerton to Grand Rapids after the exhibition season.
Chances are, Emmerton is staying in Hockeytown.
But …
"Mostly every year you're pretty much told you're going down to Grand Rapids to play a lot and work on your game and better yourself as a player," said Emmerton, a second-round pick in 2006. "This year's it's a little bit different with the waiver thing (but) they won't keep me just because of that.
"I have to show them I'm ready to play and help the team when I need to be put in."
Emmerton missed 12 games with a knee injury in Grand Rapids last season, finishing with 38 points (12 goals) in 65 games. He played two games with the Red Wings, scoring his first goal against the Blackhawks. "
